About Us
Located at 1287 First Street, Bijou Garden Café has offered fine dining with an intimate and inviting ambiance in the heart of Sarasota’s theatre and arts district since 1986. The seasonally inspired menu offers diners a mix of French and Californian cuisine. The 134 seat restaurant encompasses multiple dining areas, including two charming courtyards for dining al fresco. Situated in a beautifully-restored 1920s era gas station, guests here enjoy a joie de vivre, or “enjoyment of life,” in the restaurant with a commitment to passionate service by the staff and a continued culinary legacy of excellence.
Sharon Carole
Sharon Carole has lived in Sarasota since 2008 and has contributed to the success of numerous businesses and nonprofit organizations in the community. Sharon is the co-founder of The Realm Restaurant Group, which currently encompasses Sage Restaurant and the newly renovated Bijou Garden Café. Sharon is a champion of the Sarasota community. She is a strong supporter of Equality Florida and currently serves on the board of Project Pride SRQ.
Christopher Covelli
As a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York City, award-winning chef Christopher Covelli has earned success in the global culinary world, working professionally in seven different countries. He has been a celebrity spokesperson for Kitchenaid Appliances for over 16 years and his culinary career includes numerous television appearances on the Food Network. Chef Covelli is co-founder of The Realm Restaurant Group and executive chef at Sage Restaurant and Bijou Garden Café. Chef Covelli has been an active supporter of many non-profit organizations, serving on the board of Equality Florida for over 10 years, as well as Project Pride SRQ and Florida Winefest’s Caring for Children Charities.
